I was blessed to be able to drive in the Allegheny Highlands in Virginia, specifically the area around Clifton Forge and Covington. It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen this stretch of road beyond Clifton Forge. There is farmland nestled between the hills. Birds of prey soar in the sky while cattle and horses graze in the fields. The trees are beginning to sprout leaves and the hills are dotted with redbud. As you drive down the road, you see walls of solid rock left from the blasting that had to be done for the road to be built. The rivers you cross are full and flowing.  It is just a magnificent drive.

As I reflect on the experience, the words of a song, The Majesty and Glory of His Name, run through my mind. It is based on Psalm 8, a song of worship written by David. The refrain is:

O Lord, our God the majesty and glory of Your name Transcends the earth and fills the heavens. O Lord, our God little children praise Him perfectly. And so would we, and so would we. Alleluia, Alleluia. The majesty and glory of Your name! Alleluia, Alleluia.

What a wonderful Father in Heaven! The world is filled with beauty for us to appreciate. As we enjoy the gifts of Spring, let us remember who gave us these gifts. We are charged with maintaining His gifts as well as appreciate them. We sing “Praise God from Whom all blessings flow…”. Let’s remember to do just that.                                                                        Submitted by Linda Wheeler
