Without Him, We’re Gonna Be In A Big Mess.

“Church Chuckles” is a delightful little book compiled by Ellen Blooming and Paul Seaburn. A caption on the cover says, “Laughter is Divine”. In these serious and trying times a little laughter goes a long way in helping us keep our sanity and perspective.  In this delightful book, a little boy is praying,

“Dear God, please take care of Daddy

and Mommy and my sister and my brother and me.

And please take care of yourself, God.

If anything happens to you, we’re gonna be in a big mess.”

The Psalmist understood the importance of God in his life.  “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm. 46:1) “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer…He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:2) “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.” (Psalm 40:2-3)

We can take comfort in knowing that the God who made us has the power to keep us. The Bible does not promise us an easy life on this earth but God does promise to be with us until the end of this earthly life and into eternity if we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior.

Living in an uncertain world, as we do, Proverbs 3:5-6 has been my “go to Bible Verse” for as long as I can remember. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he shall direct your paths. With God we can have soul peace in a troubled world.  Without him, we’re gonna be in a big mess.

In His Love,

Charles
