“You Are What You Eat?”

Some books are made to read from cover to cover, straight through. Other books grab you with such profoundness that it is impossible to whiz right through them.  Gordon MacDonald’s book, “Ordering Your Private World,” fits into the last category.  It would be an abuse of the book to read it straight through because it is chocked full of thought-provoking questions that if taken seriously literally stop you in your tracks.

If you are serious about improving your life, bringing order to your everyday life and growing spiritually, reading this book will cause you to stop, look, listen and take note of what you have just read. The questions it raises cannot be ignored if you truly want life changing improvement. Here are just a few thoughts to ponder:

How are you doing spiritually?

Beware of the barrenness (emptiness) of a busy life?

Are you concerned about the influences outside yourself that might jeopardize your integrity?

The maintenance of your inner world is the most important single function of your existence.

Do you know where you will spend eternity?

These are but a few serious thoughts to ponder offered by Gordon MacDonald. I encourage you to read this book. Combine his insightfulness with God’s Word and you are on the way to making changes in your life that will bring you joy and will also honor God.  You know the expression, “You are what you eat?” In like manner, you are what you take into your mind through reading, movies and TV.  Are you shaped by the media or by God’s Word?  What you think about all day, what motivates you, is a strong indication of who you are. If you don’t like you, if you know that your life is not aligned with the Word of God, perhaps it’s time to put order into your life. Why not start today?

In His Love,

Charles
